Montgomery County is home to more than just history and shopping destinations — it’s also a sweet spot for some of the region’s best bakeries. Michael Klein of the Philadelphia Inquirer highlights the best bakeries in the region including several right here in Montco.
Industry experts say bakeries are booming nationwide thanks to small-box economics, lower start-up costs, and America’s growing appetite for European-style café culture.
In Ardmore, The Brew Room is nearly ready to debut. Eleni and Danny Chrisidis are transforming a former karate studio on Lancaster Avenue into a Greek-inspired coffee house with plenty of pastries to match the lattes.
Just around the corner at Suburban Square, The Buttery has opened a third location inside the Ardmore Farmers Market, expanding its footprint after building a loyal following with its artisan breads and flaky croissants.
In Conshohocken, Café Neos has breathed new life into Daniel’s Restaurant on East First Avenue, now serving coffee, light bites, and pastries up front.
And in Ambler, Copihue Bakehouse is introducing Chilean flavors to Butler Avenue. Cote Tapia-Marmugi’s cozy shop offers vegetarian empanadas, milhojas, pie de limón, and traditional kuchens.
Together, these bakeries prove that Montco is fast becoming a destination for anyone looking to pair their morning coffee with something special.
