Two Montco Communities Crack Top 10 Best Places to Live List

Ardmore and Penn Wynne ranked among the top 10 best places to live in the U.S., highlighting Montgomery County’s appeal.

Montgomery County enjoys the national spotlight, with Ardmore and Penn Wynne earning spots among the top 10 best places to live in the United States, writes Ryan Mulligan for The Philadelphia Business Journal.

According to Niche’s 2026 rankings, Ardmore placed No. 7 and Penn Wynne No. 9, both climbing from their positions just outside the top 10 last year. The rankings highlight a broader trend favoring walkable, suburban communities with strong schools and easy access to major metro areas.

Both communities stood out for their mix of amenities and livability. Niche pointed to highly rated public schools, along with access to shops, restaurants, and local gathering places, as key factors behind their strong showing.

Montgomery County’s presence didn’t stop there. Conshohocken, Jenkintown, King of Prussia, Blue Bell, and Spring House also landed on the broader regional list, reinforcing the county’s depth when it comes to desirable places to live.

The rankings, which combine U.S. Census data, employment metrics, and resident reviews, also reflect a tradeoff: many of these communities come with higher home prices, with typical values in top-ranked areas exceeding $500,000.
