Three years after filing for bankruptcy, King of Prussia-based David’s Bridal is reinventing itself with AI-fueled personalization and a new docuseries, writes Erin McCarthy for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
David’s Bridal CEO Kelly Cook is leading its new AI initiative that personalizes the wedding planning experience.
“We’ve done an AI analyzer on your Pinterest boards,” she said in June. “So we’re taking AI and we’re building an experience around everything that you’ve told us that you want to see.”
David’s Bridal has also launched Pearl By David’s, an AI-powered wedding planning platform, and Pearl Media Network, a targeted advertising system.
The 76-year-old retailer is also entering the documentary business with its new series, Breaking Bridal, which follows real-life couples and highlights the distinctive and memorable elements of their weddings. Among the featured weddings are a couple who exchanged vows on an active volcano and another couple who held their ceremony at a Universal Studios theme park. The first episode of the series is scheduled to debut this week.
“‘Breaking Bridal’ reflects how we’re evolving David’s Bridal into a content-driven, culture-focused ecosystem, not just a retailer,” said company president Elina Vilk.
