David’s Bridal, the Conshohocken based wedding-gown merchant, has reached a debt deal following Chapter 11 bankruptcy that will keep the wedding chain running, writes Katherine Doherty for Bloomberg.

The retailer held talks with a number of lenders and equity holders, including Oaktree Capital Group.

Certain stakeholders agreed to sign an agreement that reworks around $280 million of debt and also injects an additional $55 million to keep the chain in business.

“A move like this eliminates a ton of question marks and gives us the ability to focus on the future,” said Chief Executive Officer James Marcum.

He added that David’s Bridal sells around 25 percent of all bridal dresses in the nation and almost 92 percent of those brides choose to shop for their dresses in a brick-and-mortar store.

Still, the bankruptcy filing from a year ago spooked many brides-to-be away from the retailer’s stores, despite the management’s extensive efforts to allay customers’ fears and speed the company through the court bankruptcy process.

Now, with the new capital, David’s plans to roll out improved marketing and align its e-commerce pricing with that in its stores.
