East Greenville’s Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on Her Rise and What’s Next

Sabrina Carpenter reflects on fame, music, and turning heartbreak into humor as she prepares to release her bold new album this summer.

Sabrina Carpenter doesn’t just write pop hits; she delivers punchlines. In an interview with Angie Martoccio for Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old East Greenville native reflects on a breakout year defined by sharp songwriting, unexpected collaborations, and an unapologetic sense of humor.

Hot off the heels of her Grammy-winning album Short n’ Sweet, Carpenter is gearing up for her follow-up, Man’s Best Friend, dropping in August. The first single, ‘Manchild’ co-written by Jack Antinoff, leans even harder into her blend of honesty and irreverence – part kiss-off, part coming-of-age commentary.

Writing the album was all about authenticity for Carpenter. “I find a lot of this album to be some of the most honest work I’ve ever heard,” she said. “There’s something really celebratory about it, but most of the lyrical content is about disappointment in relationships and all the different shapes it takes. I think it’s a celebration of those who let you down.”

Carpenter says she’s not trying to prove anything; she’s just trying to tell the truth and make people feel something.
