Haitian-born designer Madelange Laroche fulfilled her lifelong dream when she opened her bridal salon in Elkins Park, writes Kristen Schott for the Philadelphia Magazine.

Madelange Laroche Bridal Design Studio had its grand opening on November 7, in the middle of the celebrations that broke out when Joe Biden was named President-elect. For Laroche, that was the cherry on top of the proverbial wedding cake.

“People were dancing by, they were so excited,” she said.

Laroche fell in love with fashion at a young age, when she was taught how to sew by her seamstress mother. When she turned 21, she moved to the U.S. to pursue her passion at a fashion design program in Fort Lauderdale.

Due to some language issues she was forced to drop out and instead earn a BSA, She began working as a nurse in 2003, but never gave up on her dream and eventually enrolled at Moore College of Art & Design.

She got her degree in fashion design in 2017 and the following year was selected for the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator program, which helped pave way for her bridal studio.
