Peter Yeargin, a Wynnewood resident and senior manager for systems engineering at Cisco, has launched Sage, an online on-demand answer platform that allows users to monetize their advice, writes Paige Gross for the Technical.ly.

Yeargin got the idea for the platform while doing his taxes.

“Of course it’s tax time, so I can’t find an appointment with a CPA, and I thought to myself, ‘It would be nice if there was somewhere I could go to get a few minutes with a specialist in this field,’” he said. “And I would pay a little bit of money to get this one-off question answered.”

He started working on Sage in March and launched the beta version in July after linking up with two overseas developers. The name was inspired by the adage of “sage advice. The aim of the service is to become the go-to source for quick and reliable information.

The feature that helps it stand out among other Q&A sites is a queue of top experts. They earn a reputation based on how quickly they answer, how accurate are their answers, and how high their acceptance rate for is for paid questions.
