After a love story full of adventures that spanned sixty-five years, Milton and Naomi Dank died within three days of each other at their home in Wyncote, writes Bonnie L. Cook for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Milton Dank died on November 28 of pneumonia at 99. His wife died on December 1 of lung cancer and Alzheimer’s disease at 95.

“They were brilliant, fun, and deeply in love,” said grandson Jacob Finkel. “He was cogent till the end, and would have been heartbroken by her death. We’re stunned they departed so close together.”

Milton Dank was a WWII glider pilot who helped design the Atlas rocket’s heat shield.

He later became a historian and wrote a seminal book about the French Resistance during WWII.

Naomi Dank was executive director of Montgomery County Emergency Service in Norristown before she became associate director of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy.

The pair married in 1954 and later toured China, Africa, and Europe, sometimes going on their adventures with friends and sometimes bringing their two daughters along for the ride.

“They were just such a nice team,” said Finkel.
