That means plenty of visitors from across the state spending money for lodging, food and entertainment during that time in Montgomery County.

Rachel Riley, the director of communications for the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, estimates the local financial economic impact will be around $500,000 during the event.

The games will be played at the Plymouth Little League complex off of Germantown Pike. The host hotel, where the teams, players and most of their families will be staying, is the Double Tree Suites, near the Plymouth Meeting Mall.

“We’re excited for this event,” said Lee Segal, the manager of Double Suites. “We’re the host hotel. We already have 40 to 50 rooms booked. Hopefully those families staying here will come back here again. We have a lot to offer.

“We have the mall. The (Elmwood Park) zoo. Lots of other attractions and places for the players and their families to enjoy. This area has a lot to offer.”

According to Plymouth Little League President Bryan McKernan, the tournament is not only a showcase for the township’s softball and baseball complex, but the township itself.

“It’s more than just a tournament,” he said. “It’s a community event, one the entire community can be a part of.”

The bottom line is, there will be eight teams, with a roster of 12 to 15 players, coming into the region from across the state. Throw in parents, friends, family and others just interested in seeing the 12-year-old girls play ball, and it’s a huge financial windfall for Plymouth Township.

Sponsors for the event include: Chic Fil A, Mission BBQ, Anthony’s Pizza, The Green Turtle, Fingers Wings & Other Things, Jersey Mikes and Conshy Girls establishments.
