Hatfield’s Josh Jones is a Star in Louisville

North Penn grad John Jones is thriving in his rookie season with Louisville City FC, chasing a USL Cup and making his mark in pro soccer.

Hatfield native Josh Jones has found a second home in Louisville, writes Andrew Robinson for The Reporter.

After a standout career at the University of Louisville, the 6-foot-5 defender signed with Louisville City FC in the USL Championship, the league’s top team since joining in 2015.

Jones worked his way into the starting lineup midseason. His strong play helped LouCity to a 3-0-1 run, earning him USL Championship Team of the Week honors after a win over North Carolina FC.

He’s known for his defensive dominance and long throw-ins that have led to goals. Jones also leads the team in clearances over his last four starts.

Drafted in 2024 by MLS side Real Salt Lake, Jones opted to return to Louisville for his senior year and degree. While RSL retains his MLS rights, Jones focused on chasing a USL Cup title before considering his next move.

Louisville City beat the Charleston Battery on Saturday, in a battle for first place in the Eastern Conference.
