A new restaurant is taking shape in Bridgeport, bringing fresh life to a location that once housed a longtime local favorite, writes Justin Heinze for Patch.
A restaurant called Cecilia is being developed at the former home of Taphouse 23. Planning and construction for the new establishment are now underway, with owners aiming to open sometime this spring.
Cecilia is being created by the team behind the historic Blue Bell Inn, which is operated by the hospitality group 1743 Hospitality. The company also runs Copper Crow and The Country House at Bluestone.
Owners describe Cecilia as a contemporary American restaurant with global inspiration, signaling a menu that blends classic American dishes with international influences.
Taphouse 23 operated at the Bridgeport location for more than a decade before closing in May 2025. During its 11-year run, the restaurant became a popular spot for dining and drinks in the borough.
In announcing the project, the owners said they are excited to become part of the Bridgeport community.
“Our focus is, and will always be, the town of Bridgeport and our soon-to-be guests,” the group said.
