DeRo Premium Cello in Bridgeport puts a modern spin on a centuries-old Limoncello recipe and offers hand-crafted liqueurs that are designed to be enjoyed neat or in cocktails, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
“Limoncello has been a centuries-old recipe, a centuries-old tradition in Italy,” said Sal Rotondo, owner of DeRo Premium Cello. “Initially a digestivo, helped you digest your food after a meal. But it’s really evolved into an ingredient for a cocktail.”
Although the lemon version is the most famous, DeRo Premium has a variety of other liqueur flavors, such as Orange Cello, Caffe Cello, Strawberry Cello, Peanut Butter Cello, Pistachio Cello, Blueberry Cello, and Chocolate Hazelnut Cello.
Some of the flavors are seasonal, such as blueberry and strawberry, while the Peanut Butter Cello is made using Reese’s Peanut Butter sauce.
“It’s delicious,” said Rotondo. “We can make really awesome elevated cocktails with our flavors.”
Available in regular-size bottles and purse-size versions, the liqueurs are mostly sold in advance and at farmers markets and special events.
