Elkins Park High Schooler Hits Triple Digits on Radar Gun

Elkins Park native Cole Kuhn, a St. Joe’s Prep junior, hits 100 MPH and emerges as one of Montco’s top baseball prospects.

Elkins Park’s Cole Kuhn is already throwing as hard as many Major League veterans, and he’s only 16, writes Jason Dumas for Action News.

Cole Kuhn, a junior at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, recently went viral after clocking a fastball over 100 miles per hour. That speed is a rare feat at any level of the sport. The moment has drawn national attention, but Kuhn says his focus remains firmly on the work behind the scenes.

Kuhn follows a demanding routine that includes throwing, strength training, and arm-care work multiple days a week. While his size, 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, and natural mechanics have impressed scouts, coaches say it’s his discipline and consistency that truly set him apart.

Already committed to play college baseball at Duke University, Kuhn has caught the attention of Major League scouts who see both elite velocity and long-term potential. His high school coach, Bobby Muth, credits Kuhn’s relentless work ethic, noting that while raw talent matters, sustained improvement comes from daily effort.

Despite the buzz and occasional public recognition, Kuhn remains grounded. He describes each day as another opportunity to improve, embracing the grind that comes with chasing excellence.

As the spring season approaches, batters across the region may want to keep their heads up. One of the generation’s hardest throwers is warming up in Elkins Park.
