Two Montgomery County high school football teams have earned spots among the top ten in Southeastern Pennsylvania, with one claiming first place, writes Joseph Santoliquito for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
La Salle, with a record of 10-1 last season, took the top spot on the list.
The next season looks very promising for the team, which will return the best player in the state, its wide receiver and safety Joey O’Brien.
Four-year starting quarterback Gavin Sidwar is also returning, and the team features what could be the state’s top offensive line, anchored by senior left tackle Grayson McKeogh and key linemen Chris Bernesky, Jacob Jackson, Andrew Sorge, and Danny Lawyer.
The Explorers also return tight end John-Patrick Oates, and will add linebacker Zykee Scott, a transfer from Imhotep.
North Penn, with an 11-3 record, placed eighth. Last season, the Knights reached the District 1 Class 6A championship but fell to Downingtown West. The team returns seven starters on offense and six on defense, highlighted by running back and defensive back Matt Pownall and three-year starting quarterback Matt Bucksar Jr.
