Matt Zollers’ Future at Missouri Still Promising Despite Injury

Despite a recent injury, Matt Zollers, the five-star, Spring-Ford senior quarterback, is still expected to early-enroll at Missouri in January, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

During last month’s game against visiting Downingtown West, the opposing defense tackled Zollers from behind.

“His foot got caught the wrong way, and the defender’s weight landed on him, and he dislocated his ankle,” said his father, Pete. “It was an ugly injury, no doubt, but not one that should affect his [future performance].”

The athlete had to undergo surgery, which was completed without any issues.

“Matt is in good spirits and has started attending practices and team dinners,” said Spring-Ford coach Chad Brubaker.

Zollers’ recovery is going well. He is still expected to follow the plans that were in place before the injury, which include early enrollment at the university he has been committed to since April. Doctors believe he will be back to 100 percent within six months.

Matt Zollers has been overwhelmed by all the support received from his teammates, coaches, friends, as well as within the community.

“The support that he’s gotten has been very positive and it definitely helps,” said his father.
