Spring-Ford senior quarterback Matt Zollers, considered by many to be the top prospect in Pennsylvania, was removed from the field in an ambulance after suffering a gruesome leg injury Friday night, according to a staff report from The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The five-star recruit, who committed to Missouri in April, was sacked in the fourth quarter of the game vs. Downingtown West.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Zollers threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns before being injured. Spring-Ford lost the game 21-12.
Zollers is 247 Sports’ No. 1 player in Pennsylvania and No. 6 quarterback in the nation. In the first three weeks of the high school football season, Zoller threw for 426 yards with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. He is also an effective rusher, running for 221 yards and three touchdowns.
On Saturday morning, he took to Instagram to thank the Spring-Ford community for the support he received.
