Spring-Ford High School quarterback Matt Zollers has remained cool throughout his entire recruitment process and committed to the University of Missouri last month, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound quarterback was the top-rated QB prospect in the state by 247 Sports.
His cool nature helped him during a slow recruiting process early on and the onslaught of college coaches that eventually followed.
“One day, I threw for four schools, and they all offered [scholarships],” Matt Zollers said. “Then I got two or three more [offers] during school. Then I had a basketball game, and I got another one after that. So it was like eight or nine in one day. It’s surreal. You don’t really expect that to happen. It doesn’t happen to too many people, so I’m just grateful.”
That was a complete 180-degree shift from his freshman year when he was sidelined for nearly half the season before being thrust into his first game against rival Perkiomen Valley while down two scores late in the fourth quarter.
Having his brother Zach, a junior at the time, and then-senior QB Ryan Freed as mentors was a huge help.
Zollers said he chose Missouri because he felt most connected to its players and coaching staff.
