La Salle’s Varsity Pitcher Cole Kochanowicz is True Renaissance Man

Cole Kochanowicz, a four-year varsity pitcher at La Salle College High School, is much more than a Lehigh-bound right-hander.

Cole Kochanowicz, a four-year varsity pitcher at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, is a true Renaissance man, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times

Kochanowicz won a PIAA quarterfinal game as a freshman closer, earned All-Catholic honors as a sophomore, and helped his team secure the top seed in the Philadelphia Catholic League playoffs this season.

However, his accomplishments as a piano player are just as impressive. Kochanowicz taught himself to play by watching YouTube videos. Among other pieces, he has learned Kanye West’s Runaway and Time from the movie Inception

He also prefers to play chess to video games, and is a member of the chess club at school.

When he first played piano in front of his teammates, they were shocked at how good he was at it.

“He started playing and it took us all by surprise,” said senior Logan Potter. “It was crazy how well he could play. It just shows how Cole is good at multiple things. He is a great student, can play the piano and chess, and then he gets to the baseball field and is a true competitor. It’s truly amazing.”
