Ardmore native Jono Matusky wants to help streamline the way you consume the news, writes Sarah Huffman for TECHNICAL.LY.

Matusky spent years in the communications business before founding Newsprint, an AI platform that monitors and analyzes news.

The platform has an AI assistant tool that helps prioritize information. Right now, it is being targeted to communication professionals, but he said it can really be used by anyone who consumes news.

Newsprint uses OpenAI’s GPT API and tech stacks like Python, Flask, Nextis, React, and JavaScript.

Matusky said that it is different from other media monitoring tools because it is better at filtering words or phrases so you can get to the information you need quicker.

It also summarizes articles for you.

He explained that “essentially, every day, you can get in your email inbox, ‘Here’s a summary of the stories that matter most to you, why they matter, grouping stories around certain topics’ — and it’s the one newsletter that you need to read today.”

Before starting the company in 2023, he worked for communications and PR agency Gregory FCA.

While at Gregory FCA, he created an augmented reality platform for creators to sell artwork and merchandise called Plynth. It is still running but no longer the main focus.
