A Jan. 10 meeting North Penn School Board meeting discussed the implications of a proposed, new 9th grade center.

The possible future ninth-grade center was the main focus of the Jan. 10 work session of the school board of North Penn School District, reported Emily Dahms for The Knight Crier.

Andreas Heinrich, of the Ambler civil engineer firm Heinrich & Klein Associates, brought a presentation on the procedures North Penn would have to undergo to ensure traffic in the areas surrounding the high school are not negatively impacted.

He cited research that showed the new building would affect five intersections. Several solutions for these upcoming issues were presented, including the possible widening of intersections, roundabouts, and adding four-way stop signs.

The board did, however, express its concern over how the timing of the center’s construction and these changes would align.

Simon Bernnard and Anne Leavitt-Gruberger from the Montgomery County Planning Commission were also present for the discussion. They elaborated on a presentation on the district’s population that they had put together that, among other things, included data on:

  • Birth rates
  • New home sales as related to in-district geographies
  • The district’s current K–12 student census
