Amateur gardeners, those who have retired or who do not have a garden of their own to work in, are getting their hands dirty volunteering at Meadowbrook Farm in Jenkintown, writes Alejandro Alvarez for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

PHS Meadowbrook Farm is a free public garden where visitors can spend hours walking among beautiful, unique plant life against a backdrop of the historic estate.

Volunteers do everything to keep the garden looking pristine, including unloading mulch for the flower beds to weeding. They manage this with help from Julie Bare, Head Estate Gardener.
