Two Montgomery County Towns Are Among Eight Most Exciting Suburbs Outside Philadelphia

Philadelphia is surrounded by lively towns and communities offering visitors everything from quaint main streets to picturesque orchards, and two local Montco places that are among the eight most exciting, writes Allie Volpe for Thrillist.com.

Ambler is a walkable town that allows visitors to hit all must-sees on foot. It has plenty available in both entertainment and shopping, including movie theaters Act II Playhouse and Ambler Theater, home decor shop Antique Garden Cottage, and Paxon’s Used Books and Records, among others.

There are also plenty of places with delicious dining, including Dettera Restaurant and Wine Bar, Mokja, The Lucky Well, La Provence, and Buutchiis Grille.

Meanwhile beer fans should head out to Forest & Main, a brewery set inside a Victorian-style house.

Ardmore is home to open-air shopping center, Suburban Square, which has all the major retailers that make it ideal to cover all of your shopping needs in one place.

There is also Lancaster Avenue with popular music venue Ardmore Music Hall, and plenty of mouthwatering dining and drinking options like El Limon, Tired Hands Brewing Co., Not Your Average Joe’s, and Ripplewood Whiskey & Craft.

Other must-see shops include Calliope Music Store and Free Will Collective.
