Laurie Butera and Paul Green didn't let the pandemic stand in their way and had a safe, a Beetlejuice-themed ceremony.

Laurie Butera and Paul Green decided not to let the pandemic stand in the way of their dream wedding— having a Beetlejuice-themed ceremony at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The pair of six years also adjusted their attire to fit the theme: Butera discovered a silvery-gray Vera Wang dress at David’s Bridal that had some black tulle sewn in, while they found Green’s attire – a Beetlejuice costume – at Spirit Halloween.

They got married a day after Halloween, with both the ceremony and reception held at Elmwood Park Zoo. The grand finale theme from Edward Scissorhands played as the bridal party walked down the aisle and the first dance was a country line dance to a song from Eddie and the Cruisers.

In addition, they took photos with various animals, including Luna the jaguar and Stella a great horned owl.

The 62 guests also got to meet Stella during the cocktail hour.

Meanwhile they had to take precautions due to the pandemic. These included providing guests with masks and having hand-sanitizers at every table with a note that said, “Spread love not germs.”
