Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park have welcomed Sally, the world’s first fresh food robot, to their staff, writes Gary Puleo for The Times Herald.

Visitors and staff at the medical centers can enjoy custom meals from Sally 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The robot has been deemed especially useful by those working the night shifts when the usual dining options are closed.

“We have a partnership with a company that helps in our cafeteria and they had identified (Sally) as a potential option for us moving forward,” said Marc Schaller, Associate Vice President of Healthcare Services, Einstein Medical Center Montgomery.

Through this partnership with Chowbotics, the food robotics company, Einstein has added new options to its cafeteria food, including fresh salads and grain bowls, as well as customizable snacks.

The purchase of the fresh food robots was made possible through money raised at Virtual Harvest Ball and The Friends of Einstein Healthcare Network.

Schaller said that the aim is to enhance services to the entire hospital community and most importantly frontline workers.
