Thanks to good ideas and prompt action, two local eateries are pulling ahead of the pack as they are successfully weathering the pandemic, writes Gary Puleo for the Montgomery Media.

At the start of the pandemic, Collegeville Italian Bakery Pizzeria Napoletana in Lower Providence set up a drive-thru system.

“Customers feel comfortable about it, it’s safe, there’s no contact,” said owner Steve Carcarey. “We’ve been doing it since day one of COVID and it’s fantastic.”

They also added additional items to their regular menu, including make-your-own pizza kits and a season-specific Thanksgiving dinner take-out, and incorporated online ordering to compensate for busy phone lines.

Meanwhile, August Moon in Norristown started offering different versions of Korean barbeque both for take-out or dine-in.

“We’ve added barbecue party trays that are doing very well for us,” said Jee Han, whose mother, Myong Ja Ryu, runs the restaurant.

Party trays are also available uncooked for those who want to add their own culinary touch.

The new items have more than compensated for the business that the restaurant lost when employees from the nearby courthouse started working from home.
