Dr. Erum Ilyas, founder of King of Prussia’s Montgomery Dermatology and AmberNoon, is one of Main Line’s Power Women 2020, writes Lisa Dukart for the Main Line Today.

As a dermatologist, Ilyas focuses primarily on the prevalence of the most common cancer in the country.

“We’re doing skin cancer screenings routinely,” she said. “We’re constantly seeing precancerous spots with skin cancer.”

Once she began noticing an increased number of cases where cancer or precancerous cells were appearing on the backs and backs of arms that are usually covered by clothing, Ilyas decided to start her clothing line that protects bare skin from the sun.

“When I really started to research textiles and understand them, I realized that there are a lot of problems with the kind of clothes usually used for summer,” she said.

Her clothes are made from tightly woven fabrics that act as protection against harmful UV rays and offers the equivalent of SPF 50 for the wearer. Since its launch in 2017, her collection has debuted on QVC and she has also landed a spot as a fellow with the Tory Burch Foundation.
