West Chester-Based Therapist Helps Business Owners Navigate Pandemic-Induced Stress
Nick Basalyga, a therapist and licensed social worker with The West Chester Therapy Group, is helping business owners navigate the enormous amount of stress brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, writes Gene Marks for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Basalyga is one of many therapists who are seeing more business owners turn to them for both help with managing stress and to give them advice on ways to better manage their companies in these unprecedented times.
“Everyone can benefit from seeing a therapist, so that they can better seek understanding and perspective, practice acceptance and empathy, and develop coping and communication skills,” said Basalyga.
For business owners, he said, a therapist serves as a sounding board, supporter, and an advocate who provides a neutral perspective. A therapist also serves as a guide in this situation.
“The right kind of counselor all depends on what the business owner would like to explore and work on,” he said. “A licensed clinician will have a broad skill set to provide therapy. If there are specific areas of interest, certifications and clinical expertise should be considered.”
