Suburban Square in Ardmore. RESTART Montco, developed by Montgomery County Planning Commission, is focusing on how planning can help communities like Ardmore recover from the effects of the pandemic.

RESTART Montco, a new initiative developed by Montgomery County Planning Commission, is focusing on determining how planning can best help local communities recover from the effects of pandemic-related shutdowns and adjust to current reopening guidance.

“Responsibly restarting our economy is a top priority across Montgomery County,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners Chair. “RESTART Montco assists with this through a planning approach that uses an innovative, comprehensive platform that invites the public to share information and experiences.”

Using a web-based platform divided into six general categories, the initiative provides resources and encourages the open dialogue and community collaboration that is crucial to facilitating a successful reopening.

The platform is designed to be useful to municipal staff and officials, business owners, nonprofits, and the general public.

The categories include Economic & Businesses, Government Regulations & Zoning, Transportation, Housing, Public Meetings, and Open Space & Recreation.

Specific topics within these categories are explored using curated outside resources, content created by the MCPC, stories or examples of success, along with forums for public discussion.

These forums are a major component of this initiative, with the public being invited to share information, experiences, and success stories.
