Connelly Foundation grants $30K to Mission Kids

 Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center has received a grant of $30,000 over two years from Connelly Foundation to continue their mission of achieving healing and justice for victims of child abuse by providing collaborative services, advocacy, leadership and education.

Mission Kids serves all child victims of alleged sexual abuse, serious physical abuse, and witnesses to violent crime, under age 18, in Montgomery County and their non-offending caregivers.

Funding will support the agency’s continued and expanding work to serve and heal over 500 child victims of abuse annually, so that they may grow into stronger adults, benefiting everyone in the community.

Mission Kids continues to provide the only Child Advocacy Center in Montgomery County, where children are spared additional trauma through the investigative process once they are brave enough to disclose abuse. All cases that involve allegations of serious physical child abuse, child sexual abuse, and child witnesses to violent crime are referred to Mission Kids.

In a child friendly environment, Mission Kids works with our partners in the Montgomery County’s District Attorney’s Office, 50 police departments, and the Office of Children and Youth to limit any additional trauma to the child and family, while also assuring a quality investigation and intervention which leads to healing and protection for the child.

In addition, Mission Kids partners with mental health specialists and specialized child abuse certified pediatricians through the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to ensure a quick path to healing.
