Never a player but always a fan of the sport, Lower Gwynedd’s Jim Clibanoff has found his calling in basketball scouting and has been the director of scouting for the Denver Nuggets for the last four years, writes Mike Jensen for Philly.com.

His scouting career began almost by accident when he started working at the front desk for a minor-league basketball team that was going to play at Holy Family University in the summer of 1991.

After taking a break to go to law school, he soon found himself involved in basketball once again, helping out with a Sonny Hill League team.

Soon after that, he started working for an NBA draft scouting sheet and as time passed Clibanoff began his own sheet, Clib Hoops. This lasted for decades and in that time, Clibanoff also did regular draft analysis columns for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

However, his law degree did not go to waste as it came in handy when he represented overseas players. Still, his main occupation was draft analyses, which finally brought him to his position with the Denver Nuggets.

“I’m not like, I got to go to work today,'” said Clibanoff. “I’m going to a basketball game.”
