The Plymouth Meeting Mall and Willow Grove Park Mall are now offering customers the chance to use Amazon’s latest innovation, lockers, according to a staff report for The Times Herald.

PREIT, which operates both malls, has signed a deal with Amazon to provide the locker service at 15 malls on the East Coast. The lockers allow anyone ordering from Amazon.com to have their products delivered to the self-service lockers. Offered as an option during checkout on the website, they provide a secure alternative for customers to receive their parcels.

Once the package arrives at the locker, the purchaser receives an e-mail with a code they can use to open the locker and retrieve the package. Not only that, but in the case of returning unwanted or dysfunctional items, the locker system can be used in reverse.

“To team up with Amazon to offer a first-of-its-kind, multi-location Amazon Locker installation at some of our malls across the East Coast is a great milestone in our ongoing commitment to innovation and optimizing the shopper experience for customers,” said Joseph Coradino, PREIT’s CEO.
