Daniel J. Hilferty, president and chief executive officer of Independence Blue Cross, will serve as chair of the campaign, and Christopher Cashman, former executive vice president and president of commercial markets at Independence Blue Cross, will serve as co-chair.
The pair will work with a team of more than 100 volunteers from the business and nonprofit sectors and communities throughout the region to drive philanthropic efforts and investments that support Education, Financial Stability, Health, and Basic Needs.
“We are incredibly grateful that Dan and Chris have volunteered to lead our regional fundraising efforts,” says Jim Cawley, president and CEO of UWGPSNJ. “Their ability to rally individuals and organizations around a common cause is matched only by the compassion they have for those who need our support most.
“Their leadership, and the leadership of our entire regional Campaign Cabinet, will allow us to deliver results that will change lives and strengthen communities across our region – one child, one adult, and one family at a time.”
Through the Impact Fund, UWGPSNJ combines the giving power of 100,000 donors and carefully manages these gifts to support the most effective local nonprofits and innovative new approaches to deliver measurable results. UWGPSNJ takes a holistic approach to improve Education, Financial Stability, and Health, and make sure people can meet their most basic needs – food, shelter, and safety.
“I am proud and honored to serve as campaign chair for an organization that shares a deep commitment to improve the lives of people in our region and build a stronger community,” says Hilferty. “Through its unique role, United Way offers a simple, powerful approach for people to invest their charitable dollars — leveraging the giving force of thousands to address critical community problems, drive real impact, and change lives.”
