“Trolls: World Tour” was set to hit movie theaters on April 10, but like everything else, the theatrical release was put on hold as the coronavirus shut down theaters everywhere.

The movie is finding new life, though, by releasing directly to digital.

But there’s a problem. With the theatrical release came plans to offer troll dolls at the opening as a promotional giveaway, writes Mia Chen, marketing coordinator for the Goldenberg Group.

With theaters closed and no opening, what could be done with boxes and boxes of trolls?

“The Water Tower Cinema marketing team wanted to find a way to get the toys out to the kids in the local community who might enjoy them and we immediately thought out the local children’s hospital,” Chen writes in an email.

The team worked with Montgomery Township Community Relations Officer Robert Johnson, who put them in touch with Julie S. Paslowski, the senior social worker with the Children’s Clinic at the Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital.

“Given the circumstances, we couldn’t think of a better place for them than the Community Health Center at Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital,” states a Water Tower Cinema Facebook post.

Word from Julie is that the trolls went to several grateful moms for distribution.

“So far I’ve been able to give a few out to the mothers of the children. They were pleasantly surprised and seemed quite happy to share the trolls with their daughters,” she said.
