New Lankenau President Gets to Work Amid Rising Patient Demand

Lankenau’s new president, Anna Michelle Brandt, begins shaping her vision as the Wynnewood hospital faces rising demand.

Weeks after stepping into the role, the new leader at Lankenau Medical Center is beginning to outline her vision for the future, writes Stephanie Stahl for CBS News Philadelphia.

Anna Michelle Brandt officially took over as president on March 1. She brings experience from her previous role as chief operating officer at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.

Settling into the position, Brandt is focusing on balancing efficiency with patient care at the busy Wynnewood-based hospital. Lankenau serves tens of thousands of patients and employs roughly 2,000 staff members. Like many healthcare systems in the region, the medical center is navigating increased demand and ongoing staffing and financial pressures.

Brandt said her leadership approach centers on teamwork and staying connected to both staff and patients, emphasizing the importance of regularly walking the halls and engaging directly with those she serves.

Her appointment also carries broader significance, as women remain underrepresented in hospital leadership roles nationwide.

As she gets established, Brandt said her goal is to help the organization adapt to evolving challenges while maintaining its strong reputation for community-centered care.
