Montgomery County is putting a creative spin on civic engagement this election season, writes Denali Sagner for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Local officials are inviting residents to design the county’s official “I Voted” sticker, the small but meaningful badge handed out to voters on Election Day.
The contest is open to all ages, with a special push to encourage younger artists to participate. Since launching in mid-March, the initiative has already drawn dozens of submissions from across Montco, showcasing a wide range of styles and perspectives from residents as young as 4 years old.
County leaders say the goal is to make voting feel more engaging and community-driven. In past years, Montgomery County has partnered with organizations like Fresh Artists to feature student-created designs, particularly from Pottstown and Norristown. This year marks the first time the county has opened the process to the broader public.
Submissions must include the words “I Voted” and remain nonpartisan, with no references to political parties or groups. Artists can submit designs in common digital formats, with entries due by April 30.
With Election Day approaching, officials hope the contest will not only highlight local talent but also spark excitement around participating in the democratic process.
