Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center is preparing to set a new state-of-the-art facility in Plymouth Meeting, writes Justin Heinz for Patch.
The new Montco center is designed to support children affected by abuse through every step of the process. The building will feature mock courtrooms and a mock apartment to help young people feel more comfortable before giving testimony. It will also feature an expanded trauma therapy suite and a pediatric medical examination suite.
As the organization gets ready for this next chapter, it is also inviting local students to leave their mark on the new space.
Mission Kids recently launched a student sculpture contest centered on the theme “To Inspire and Foster Hope.” Winning entries will be displayed inside the facility, tying community creativity to a place built around healing, care, and support.
“We want young people in our community to be part of this exciting new chapter for Mission Kids,” CEO Leslie Slingsby said in a statement. “Displaying student artwork in our new space is a meaningful way to celebrate creativity and bring the community into a place designed for healing and support.”
Submissions for the three-dimensional sculpture contest are due by Sunday, March 29. Winners will be announced April 1, and 16 students will each receive a $100 gift card.
