Norristown’s Cavan Sullivan Readies for Pivotal Year With Union Before Manchester City Transfer

Norristown’s Cavan Sullivan is entering a crucial season with the Philadelphia Union before his planned transfer to Manchester City.

Norristown’s Cavan Sullivan is entering a crucial season with Philadelphia Union before his planned transfer to Manchester City at the end of 2027, writes Jonathan Tannenwald for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

However, the 16-year-old phenom, who recently left with the team for their preseason training in Spain, has gotten used to the spotlight by now.

“The spotlight can be great, but at the same time, especially now, it’s really not something I’m caring about,” he said. “Like, literally all I want to do is play games and play the sport I love.”

But he is quick to acknowledge how much the spotlight has brought to him in the form of endorsements, including a deal with sportswear giant Adidas.

Sullivan is expected to be ready for regular first-team playing time this season as he continues to grow and gain the size needed to compete with adult players. During the last season, he played 440 minutes for the Union’s first team in 16 appearances.

“I’m going to work my [butt] off, trying to earn my spot, [and] be a consistent player on a team basis,” said Sullivan.
