Two of the region’s most respected nonprofits, Bala Cynwyd’s Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) and Abramson Senior Care of Jenkintown, have officially merged, reports John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The two combine over four centuries of collective experience in serving older adults and families throughout Greater Philadelphia.
The merger brings together JFCS’s wide-ranging community programs with Abramson’s long-standing expertise in geriatric care management. The newly unified organization will operate under the JFCS brand, with senior services continuing as Abramson Senior Care of JFCS.
Robin Brandies, who previously led Abramson Senior Care, assumed the CEO role at JFCS on September 1 following the retirement of longtime leader Paula Goldstein. Brandies said the merger allows both organizations to “ensure even greater access to critical services for vulnerable older adults.”
With a combined 103 employees and no layoffs planned, the integration strengthens JFCS’s capacity to provide counseling, financial assistance, and basic-needs support for families across Montgomery County and beyond.
The Abramson Senior Care Foundation, which holds a $30 million endowment dedicated to senior services, will remain an independent organization.
The next phase, Brandies said, will focus on expanding collaborations with other agencies serving seniors, building on programs such as the joint support initiative for Holocaust survivors.
