Eataly Opens in King of Prussia Mall with Food, Wine, and Culture

Eataly opens at King of Prussia Mall, offering Italian food, wine, and classes in a 21,000-square-foot marketplace and restaurant.

The King of Prussia Mall’s new anchor store, one filled with Italian flavors instead of fashion, is here, writes Michael Klein for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Famed Italian marketplace, Eataly, officially opens on October 2 at 3 p.m. It ushers in wheels of Parmigiano-Reggiano, fresh pastas, pastries, caviar, and a 200-seat restaurant. Another 90 seats are available outside, plus a wine shop, coffee counter, gelato stand, and pizza ovens.

Eataly was founded in 2007. It has grown into 60 stores worldwide, with King of Prussia marking its first in the region.

Tommaso Brusò, Eataly North America’s CEO, calls the concept “a gate to Italy,” blending grocery shopping, dining, and education. Shoppers will find 3,000 items, mostly imported from Italy, alongside in-house bread baking and mozzarella pulling. The store also features La Scuola, an educational space that will soon host cooking classes, wine tastings, and special dinners.

With 200 employees trained to guide customers—from baristas to wine experts versed in a 450-label list—Eataly aims to offer more than groceries. “We are more like entertainment,” Brusò said, noting that most visitors stay more than an hour, making it a destination as much as a store.
