Many local restaurants offer delicious flavors from cultures around the world, bringing a taste of global cuisine to Montgomery County residents, writes Alicia Roberts for CBS News Philadelphia.
Venga Pues in Norristown takes patrons on a culinary trip to Colombia.
“Venga Pues means for us like a come over here, this is your home,” said owner Angela Barahona.
The South American eatery serves traditional favorites that are always fresh, as well as packaged goods and beverages from Colombia.
“We have a lot of flavors, we have a lot of food, we have a lot of colors and you can feel the happiness,” said Barahona.
Meanwhile, in Conshohocken, El Limon tempts diners with the genuine taste of Mexico. Karina Vargas opened the taqueria in 2010 and has since built a loyal following, always eager to try her popular dishes.
“We do tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, empanadas,” she said.
Vargas firmly believes that the experience customers have matters as much as the menu.
“I want them to take away that they were comfortable, that they ate a good meal, they got filled with this meal, and they are happy to come back,” she said.
