The historic Broad Theater in Souderton has been revitalized for the new generation of moviegoers, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
“In 1922, the Broad Theater opened, and then in 2008 it closed,” said co-owner Kyle Hoff.
Hoff and his business partner, Charlie Crown, bought the building in 2018, with the aim of restoring it to a three-screen state-of-the-art movie theater.
“We used to look at this building, and we were in the Business Improvement District,” said Crown. “It was boarded up for ten years, and we said to each other, ‘Somebody’s gotta do something with this here.’”
Led by their shared love of enjoying a beer with a movie, the partners decided to create a space where guests could do just that. That is where Cinema Brewing came into play. They also partnered with a local, Broad Street Italian pizza joint next door to offer moviegoers a chance to grab a pizza on their night out.
“That way, people can get really good food and see a movie at the same time,” said Hoff.
“The only thing we don’t provide is babysitting,” he joked.
Watch the entire segment at FOX 29 Philadelphia.
