The Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown course recently hosted the PGA Tour’s Truist Championship, serving as a scenic one-week substitute for Quail Hollow Club, which is hosting the PGA Championship this week, writes Jack Hirsh for Golf.com.
It was also a perfect opportunity to showcase A.W. Tillinghast’s design to many of today’s top golfers.
The course is mostly unfamiliar to the majority of professional golfers, as well as the wider global golf audience. The 1922 golden age track was fully restored in 2014 by Keith Foster, and has since hosted several marquee events, such as the 2015 PGA Professional Championship, 2016 Constellation Senior Players, and the 2024 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball.
These areas were the six most critical shots on the course: the tee shot on the par-3 8th hole at 240 yards, the tee shot on the par-4 10th hole at 449 yards, the approach shot on the par-4 11th hole at 487 yards, the approach shot on the par-5 15th hole at 553 yards, the tee shot on the par-3 16th hole at 215 yards, and the tee shot on the par-4 17th hole at 498 yards.
