Truist Championship Volunteers Gather in King of Prussia Before PGA Tour Debut

Hundreds of volunteers gathered at Topgolf King of Prussia to celebrate ahead of the Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

With the 2025 Truist Championship a little more than a week away at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, hundreds of volunteers gathered Sunday at Topgolf in King of Prussia to kick off the excitement, writes Eva Anderson for CBS News.

More than 1,700 volunteers from 21 states and three countries have signed up to help run the PGA Tour event — and Sunday’s celebration was a chance to meet, swing some clubs, and fuel up before tournament week.

Volunteers ranging from 13 to 86 years old will handle everything from tracking scores and transporting players to greeting fans and selling merchandise. Claudia Gangemi, a local “golf mom,” said she’s excited to help the tournament run smoothly, while her 14-year-old daughter, Emma, will serve as a standard bearer on the course.

Organizers say the event wouldn’t be possible without this dedicated army of volunteers.

“Today is all about appreciating our volunteers  — giving them a big thank you ahead of all their hard work,” said tournament services specialist Rachel Goetz.

The Truist Championship, which debuts at the Philadelphia Cricket Club this year, has raised over $30 million for local charities since 2003 — and volunteers are proud to help showcase the region to the national golf stage.
