Wawa Celebrates First Store Opening in Indiana Amid Expansion

The first Indiana Wawa store opens with a new store in Daleville, one of many to come in Indiana and elsewhere in the Midwest.

Wawa had a grand opening celebration on May 14 for the first Wawa in Indiana, inviting fans, staff, and Wawa company officials to the opening, reports inkFreeNews.

The store in Daleville, off SR 67 and Interstate 69, is about 50 miles from Indianapolis.

It was filled to near capacity. Music played as workers provided free samples of Wawa food to the guests.

Wally the Goose, Wawa’s mascot, mingled and posed for pictures.

The store officially opened its doors to the public on May 15, the first of many planned openings in Indiana.

Stores in Noblesville, a suburb of Indianapolis, and Clarkesville, about 110 miles from the state capital, are also opening soon.

Wawa hopes to bring 8 to 12 new locations to the Hoosier state per year through 2030.

A store in Brownsburg is also planned, though its opening has been set back by about a month because of a recent fire.

Wawa is investing about $7.5 million per store, hiring 35 to 40 employees for each, according to Wawa representatives.

\All locations are owned and operated by the company.

The Wawa brand currently has about 1,110 locations around the country as it continues to expand in the Midwest and South.
