Colton Book is First in St. Joseph’s University History to Record 100 Strikeouts in One Season

Since transferring to St. Joseph’s University, Colton Book is the first in the school’s history to strikeout 100 batters in a single season.

Since transferring to St. Joseph’s University in the fall, Colton Book has achieved an impressive milestone: he became the first player in the school’s history to record 100 strikeouts in a single season, writes Mia Messina for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He secured his 100th strikeout on April 27, in a 4-3 win over Dayton. Now, he is at 114 and still goiing.

“I didn’t really expect that coming into the year, but it’s super cool to know that, out of all the great, great players that have pitched here, that I have the most strikeouts out of anybody,” said Book. “I think it’s pretty cool.”

The Manheim native finished his previous season at Stony Brook with a 10.52 ERA. After transferring to St. Joseph’s, he worked closely with pitching coach Jeremy Hileman and posted a 3.20 ERA in the regular season, which was the fourth-best in the Atlantic 10.

“I definitely made the right decision when choosing to come here,” said Book. “The whole season has been great. The opportunity that the coaches gave me here is something that I’m very thankful for.”
