After Successful Career as St. Joseph’s Basketball Player, Chloe Welch Starts Coaching Journey

After wrapping up her playing career at St. Joseph’s last season, Chloe Welch became graduate manager for the 2024-25 basketball season.

After wrapping up her successful playing career at St. Joseph’s, Chloe Welch stepped into the position of graduate manager for the 2024-25 basketball season, writes Mia Messina for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“I’ve always been ready and willing to learn, and I think that these opportunities are really awesome,” said Welch. “Even if it’s a task I don’t really understand, I know that I can if I put my mind to it, and it’s an opportunity to learn and acquire a new skill. So it’s really exciting for me.”

Welch spent her first four collegiate years at Davidson. For her final season, she was in talks to transfer to St. Joe’s, a move solidified by the potential to transition into a coaching role.

“That was always the plan, and then once I finished playing last year, we readdressed it, and they asked again if I was interested, and I still was,” said Welch.

Her new role involves a variety of tasks, including cutting film from games and practices, participating in games as a practice player, and assisting with workouts. She also helps with keeping recruiting information organized and builds class schedules for players and managers.
