Three of the Best Hoagies Outside of Philadelphia Are in Chester County

Three of the best hoagies outside of Philadelphia are in Chester County, particularly locations in Phoenixville and West Chester.

Philadelphia is known to produce some of the best hoagies, but the city isn’t the only place that knows how to make a good sandwich. Three spots in Chester County are revered for their hoagie skills, writes Patrick Berkery for The Keystone.

Two of the most populated areas of the county, Phoenixville and West Chester, have a handful of places that offer sandwiches, cheesesteaks, hoagies, and more.

Bob’s Haven DeliPhoenixville. In business for over 60 years, Bob’s knows how to make a tasty zep. The zep originated in the Norristown area in the 1950s, but it’s basically a synonym for the hoagie. Bob’s keeps it simple with their crusty long rolls, meat and cheese choices, onions, and spices.

Lorenzo’sWest Chester. Lorenzo’s Steaks & Hoagies (the other one down the block) is a second-generation business with shops beyond West Chester cooking up delicious hoagies. As its full name suggests, the shop supplies an endless array of options, whether you’re digging a warm cheesesteak or an appetizingly cool hoagie from one of its many menu sandwiches.

Carlino’s Market – West Chester. Carlino’s, which is also in Ardmore, has a wide selection of groceries and specialty items. One of the many foods they offer is hoagies, with favorites including Angela’s Choice and Old Timer. Both sandwiches include fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, among other ingredients.
