Brothers Kershner Brewing Co. is expanding into Chester County with a new taproom, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Barrel by Brothers Kershner is set to open in May. The brewery has signed a lease for a historic two-story stone building at 122 Pennsylvania Ave. in Avondale. The site is previously home to Be Here Brewing Co.
The Montgomery County-based brewery, founded by brothers Kevin and Basil Kershner, has been growing steadily since opening its flagship location in Skippack in 2018. They later launched the seasonal Brothers on the Brandywine Beer Garden in Coatesville, which will reopen April 6, with a St. Patrick’s Day pop-up March 15-16.
The new 3,000-square-foot taproom marks a homecoming for the Downingtown natives. It will offer 12 beers on tap, along with cocktails, ciders, and wines blended at their Skippack location. A future addition includes a wine bar and private tasting room.
New to Brothers Kershner Brewing, the new location will offer pub favorite foods like smash burgers.
The taproom, expected to open Wednesday through Sunday, will provide a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with small renovations to enhance its charm. The brewery plans to hire about 10 staff members for the new location.
