Pennsylvania Ranks Among Best States to Raise Family in 2025

Pennsylvania is the third-best state to raise a family in 2025, according to a report from ConsumerAffairs.

Pennsylvania ranked third in the country among the best states to raise a family in 2025, according to a recently released report from ConsumerAffairs, writes Ashley Adams for The Keystone.

Vermont ranked in first place, ahead of Maine in second.

The report ranked all 50 states and Washington, D.C. based on five key metrics, including affordability, safety, education, pediatric healthcare, and quality of life.

Pennsylvania’s high ranking stems from its safe, nurturing environment for families, with standout scores in public education, safety, and pediatric healthcare.

The Keystone State ranked fifth in the nation for public education, boasting the country’s second-highest public high school graduation rate of 96 percent. Pennsylvania placed tenth in the area of public safety, earning positive scores in crime statistics, driving safety, and climate safety.

The Commonwealth also ranked tenth for pediatric healthcare, with 47 pediatricians per 100,000 children, ensuring adequate access to medical care for the state’s children.

Finally, Pennsylvania made the top 20 for affordability, in part due to the Employer Child Care Contribution Tax Credit initiative, which helps businesses support employees’ childcare expenses.
