Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame Inducts Three New Members

On November 26, the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame inducted Amanda O’Leary, Mark Schmidt, and Steve Schein.

The Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame inducted three new members last Tuesday, reports Ed Morlock for The Times Herald.

Royersford’s Amanda O’Leary, a former three-sport athlete at Spring-Ford High School and the current head coach of the University of Florida’s women’s lacrosse team, was honored for her illustrious coaching career. O’Leary’s tenure includes leading Florida to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and capturing numerous championships. 

Mark Schmidt begun his coaching career at Norristown Area High School in 1982. Later, he guided Neshaminy High School to a state championship and a national ranking in 2001. He is currently involved with La Salle College High School.

Steve Schein, with 51 years of football coaching in Montgomery County, including a notable record at Upper Merion High School. Schein also founded and led the Spring-Ford Youth Football and Cheerleading program.

Wilmer Cressman received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to promoting sports and scholarship in the region. Cressman played a pivotal role in establishing the Triangle Club of Montgomery County and the Norristown Area High School Hall of Champions Association, fostering athletic and academic excellence.

Additionally, Jim and Mary Brown, Burnell “Snapp” Lewis, and Kirk Daywalt were honored on the Community Coaches Honor Roll for their extensive volunteer work in various local sports programs.
